Reflections on the Design and Presentation

of a Professional Teaching Portfolio

Chronicling the development of my teaching portfolio, this site is meant to "make visible" the process.  Reflection was included throughout the process in a cyclical fashion.  The process also included a rather lengthy process through which materials were selected for inclusion.  Equally long because of the reflection that occurred throughout, was the design and development process.

Each decision that was made occurred because of reflection.  That is, I selected a material or chose a graphic, and then stepped back and thought about the decision.  I considered how that particular action corroborated with my education and my experiences as well as my beliefs about my future.

The format that this account will take is that of a reflective journal.  Some of these reflections were originally posted in my blog as summative reports of the week's progress http://twc521.blog.asu.edu/ , while others were posted in discussion forums.  Others though are unique and are meant to reveal the reasons behind the intermediate selection and design decisions that I made.

It is my intent that this reflective journal will provide novice portfolio developers with insight into the process, as much of the published literature does not specifically address this.
